Smoking cigarettes or other tobacco products has been showed to us by those who are selling them as masculine habit, linked to happiness, power, wealth, fitness, sexual success. But in reality this habit causes more health problems that we can imagine. It can cause sickness, lung cancer or premature death.Smoking just 1 to 4 cigarettes a day almost triples the risk of dying from heart disease or lung cancer, according to a large study in Tobacco Control. The report suggests that smokers have been wrong to believe that “light” smoking does not cause health problems.
There are almost one billion men who are smoking in the whole world. Almost 50 percent are from developing countries and 35 percent come from developed country.Male smoking interacted with male age (P = 0.0164), indicating for male smokers a decrease of 2.4% in the likelihood of achieving a 12-week pregnancy with every 1-year increase in age. This is the first study to show that male smoking has a deleterious effect on pregnancy outcome among IVF patients.
A few researches were conducted, which have showed that smoking is declining in the male smoking and the rates have peaked. But still the trend is very slow over decades and men are dying from their smoking habit. There are other problems caused by smoking like male infertility. An analysis of 27 studies addressing the effect of smoking on sperm concentration, motility, and morphology in fertile and infertile men found a modest reduction in semen quality and altered hormone levels among smokers compared to nonsmokers, but did not find a reduction in male fertility associated with paternal smoking. Studies of non-infertile male smokers and nonsmokers reported an average 23 percent decrease in sperm concentration and 13 percent decrease in sperm motility among the smokers.
It was said that there are educated men and less educated and that in general the first ones realize the danger of smoking and give up, but those men who are poorer, less educated continue doing it.
China smoking country is one of the places that deserve special attention, because the smoking problem is very important to be solved. It has more than 300 million male smokers. According to Philip Morris International this country represents the most important feature on the landscape.
