TOBACCO should be classified as a crime against humanity!

Believe me.. no other consumer product in the history of the world has even come close to inflicting this amount of damage on mankind. If anything else of this magnitude was to pose the same threat to life, whether it was human induced or naturally occurring – be it war, terrorist attack, genocide, ethnic cleansing, natural disaster or disease, it would as a rule command immediate international intervention!
Think about the current ‘war on terror’. So why isn’t it?

You would have learnt how to smoke from that very first cigarette, as you most certainly practised the draw-back and other styles of smoking until you finally achieved that great smokers status.

If you and I were born to be a smokers then maybe our noses would be upside down (like a chimney) with a little umbrella over it to keep the rain out! Firemen wouldn’t need any breathing apparatus would they? We don’t have a built-in filtration system for the Carbon Monoxide that’s in the smoke.

Seriously now, you wouldn’t pour toxic chemicals in to the fuel tank of your car, truck, motor home or bike – would you? So why is it we can suck in over 4000 toxic chemicals with every cigarette and not really think anything of it (until it’s too late). Your life has got to be more valuable than your car or truck.

There are dozens of what I call ‘Smoker Myths’ associated with nicotine addiction, some of them are like this….

Myth#1. “I enjoy smoking, it makes me feel good” ever said something like that, or what about….

Myth#2. “I really enjoy the flavour of tobacco” are you kidding me!!!(Dog vomit would taste better)

Myth#3. “I’m just soooo stressed out, I need a cigarette”

These Smoker Myths become apart of the smoking culture or belief system. How many times do you think a non-smoker would make these statements?

NEVER!!

I take enormous pleasure at being a non-smoker (normal) and I’m proud of it. You don’t lose anything when you quit smoking, as a matter of fact you gain life,health and money. Did you know that you can quit smoking anytime you choose to?

Everywhere you turn, there is a sign asking you not to smoke. Most smokers would ask what the big deal is. Who cares if they choose to smoke? Unless they’re smoking right next to someone, it shouldn’t be anybody’s concern. Yet laws are being passed constantly that ban smoking in bars and restaurants, clubs and some laws seek to ban smoking in the privacy of your own home. It seems everyone wants you to quit smoking. But why should you. There are, in fact, many reasons to quit. We’ll examine a few of them and it’s likely, by the time you’re done reading this, you’ll think twice about lighting that next cigarette.

The World Health Organization compiled a set of statistics for smoking back in 2002 and the results are astounding. For example, they found that every eight seconds someone dies from tobacco use. They also found that, worldwide, smoking kills one in ten adults. This is a worldwide epidemic. Here at home, smoking kills one in five people. In Britain and other parts of Europe, about 12 times more people have died from smoking related illnesses than died in World War II. But it’s the Western Pacific Region, which includes East Asia and the Pacific, that has the highest number of smokers. In fact, two thirds of all men smoke in this region of the world.

And it’s not just adults who are smoking. The WHO found that one in five teens smokes worldwide and that a quarter of all youth born in the Western Pacific region of the world will eventually die from smoking. Those are sobering numbers that, alone, should make a person want to quit. But there is much more to this problem than just statistics.

When you read statistics, it’s easy to separate yourself from the people studied. However, if you’re a smoker, the stats are talking about you. Smoking causes diseases and death. It causes you to age faster, it makes you smell bad, it makes your breath smell bad, it’s an expensive habit and yet people continue to smoke every day.

The reason people smoke despite all the doom, gloom, and horrible statistics, is that tobacco is one of the more addictive substances on Earth. In fact, experts have found that tobacco fits into certain receptors in your brain than your own ‘feel good’ endorphins do. That means your body will crave nicotine over your body’s own chemicals. And that’s also why it only takes one cigarette for you to become hooked. Regarding these facts, the WHO also found that people who smoke in their adolescence go on to smoke for fifteen to twenty years.

If you’re a smoker, you owe it to yourself and those who love you to stop smoking. Experts have found that if you stop smoking right now, your lungs will heal themselves within five years. But you must stop smoking. If disease, death and the high price of a pack of cigarettes won’t dissuade you from smoking, maybe the fact that you won’t be around to see your kids grow up might change your mind. Quit smoking any way you can and you just might prolong your life a little longer.

Stop Smoking in Healthy Aging

Stop smoking now means you could live a happy and healthier life. As you already know smoking is bad for everyone, not just the ones that smoke but the ones that breath in the second hand smoke. Second hand, smoke is harder on you then smoking. Forty-five hundred Americans start smoking every year. Why would they want to do this to them self I can’t truly answer you. Because once you get started, you cannot stop. You are hooked and that is not very good for you. Most people start at an early age in life, they are curious or they want to be cool. The biggest problem is most people lack education that helps them to see how smoking causes them to age faster.

The problems smoking can cause:

Smoking can cause many problems when it comes to your health not to think about the expense. Smoking can cause cancer, heart disease, and strokes, increase cholesterol and so on. Your heart is affected, since smoking causes your blood vessels to build up with cholesterol and fat. The results lead to harden of the arteries. Harden arteries mean that the blood flow will not pump fast enough to support the heart’s natural requirements. This starts blood clotting, broken blood vessels etc. It can also cause angina which will make you think that your having a heart attack but your aren’t its just not getting enough blood to the heart to make it pump right. Then it can cause you to have a heart attack, since smoking is a blockage so that there is no blood going to the heart.

Smoking can cause strokes or bronchiolitis. This disease is contagious, which most people do not realize it. The viral infection affects the airway, which affects breathing. The common cause of this contagious disease is smoking or second hand smoke. Smoking promotes bad breath, stained teeth, smelly furniture and clothes. You also get common colds and flu more often. You will start to cough and then you won’t be able to breath they even may put you on oxygen. In addition, smoking is so expensive now days. It is not worth it you will end up regretting it in end. On top of this, you get addicted to the nicotine once you are hooked your hooked.

Bronchiolitis is a common viral infection, which affects the respiratory syncytial. The condition causes inflammation. Once the inflammation accumulates the airway is blocked, since the nicotine consumptions and infections causes the airway to narrow, which the flow of air is obstructed.

Why is nicotine addictive?

You get addicted to the nicotine because of the entire chemical put into the tobacco. It’s not so much as the nicotine that makes you sick it’s the chemicals that they put in the tobacco, that cause you to get the disease like lung cancer and heart disease. In addition, what ever you get from smoking. Nicotine or cigarettes have several chemicals incorporated into it to causes addictions, and finally death.

How can I quite smoking?

Once you are hooked, it is going to be hard to quite. You have to decide that you’re going to quite regardless of what it causes, such as weight gain or being on edge.

You have to pull up the will power to do this and stick to it. You can say I will have one now and no more, yet it doesn’t work that way. You have to find the way that best fits your needs and build the will power. You may want to consult with your doctor who can offer you helpful suggestions on stop smoking.
